What is Unified Platform
A challenge many Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) officers face is having to work with too many computer systems, interfaces, and physical screens and keyboards in their day to day activities. Intelligent Imaging Systems’ Smart Roadside Unified Platform offers a single, comprehensive system that integrates all screening, query, and inspection entry functions for CVE officers, thereby improving workflow and ease of use. Using a Single Sign On, authorized users have a single, secure access point to all enforcement applications and systems.
With a one-touch workflow launch, Unified Platform automatically transfers data from the Smart Roadside Inspection System (SRIS) to CVIEW, the agency’s inspection interface and the e-citation system. This automated data entry and cross data field population minimizes officer data input and typing, while conveniently integrating multiple workflows.
How does Unified Platform Work?
Using a Single Sign On and integrated interface, Unified Platform allows CVE officers to conveniently access Carrier and Vehicle records by simply clicking on the CVIEW button embedded in the Smart Roadside Inspection System (SRIS). The Unified Platform provides back-office integration of SAFER and PRISM, Nlets, DHS and DEA.
In addition to offering a simplified and integrated interface, Unified Platform can provide enterprise reporting for both the operations and management of state CVE activities. The Enterprise Reporting Tool is designed to offer a wide breadth of reporting options, including Alerts, Volume, Uptime and Performance.
The applications are numerous: Unified Platform works for mainline screening, ramp screening, bypass programs, and inspections — at both fixed weigh stations and mobile inspection sites.
Furthermore, Unified Platform can operate from either private cloud-based services or in-state cloud-based services. Cloud-based processing reduces the deployment of costly electronics, computers, A/C units, and UPCs at roadside equipment, and offers a lower total cost of ownership.

The Top Five Benefits of Unified Platform
- Provides a single interface for officers to access multiple systems
By using Unified Platform, your organization is choosing to decrease the administrative, financial and security burden associated with managing multiple, disparate systems. With separate systems, data silos and interfaces; officer workflows become disjointed and less effective. This can cause user acceptance challenges, inefficiencies at the roadside, and gaps in centralized reporting. Additionally, there is a need to improve the data quality of the IRP/IFTA uploads to SAFER with a modern, automated system that meets FMCSA and state data quality requirements.
- Offers convenient Single Sign On
What if one touch of a button could launch your workflow and provide convenient and secure access to all of your CVE screening, query and inspection functions? Unified Platform offers this convenience and security with a single, secure access point to all enforcement applications, eliminating the hassle and costs associated with managing multiple system sign-on. With the number of vehicles to process and inspect on the road, there’s no need to waste officer time with unnecessary typing and data entry. Unified Platform offers the benefit of auto-populating carrier information such as address and VIN number.
- Integrates workflow
Unified Platform provides back-office integration of SAFER & PRISM, Nlets, DHS & DEA; and integrates workflow for site sensor systems, CVIEW, state tax, and inspection software. The system has also been designed to provide Enterprise Reporting for both the operations and management of state CVE activities.
The Unified Platform integrates with over 40 types of roadside equipment including Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs), USDOT readers, Weigh-in-Motion (WIM), CVSA sticker readers, thermal inspection units, over-height detectors, static scales and message signs, among others.
- Automates administratively burdensome processes
By eliminating repetitive and replicated data entry, the Smart Roadside Unified Platform provides
- Reduced administrative burden for officers
- Automated uploads and data transfer
- Straightforward and essential access to data for informed decision making
- Automated data quality checks – improves accuracy and reduces re-entry and correction of data.
- Scales to grow alongside your inspection programs
The Unified Platform core functionality is scalable to meet your current and future inspection needs. The platform expands to include inspection, lane control, bypass programs, driver screening, freight initiatives and connected vehicle deployments, among others.
